Beijing - Day 10: Local Press

I also ventured out during the day today. My quest was to get some American dollars to exchange into Chinese RMB. Katniss, My contact who works for the booking agency told me to go to a bank and do it. Little did I know that it was going to be a 2 hour process.

I decided to try a local bank, Bank of China, because it seemed obvious that they could exchange the money. Luckily one of the host ladies could speak English and told me I had to fill out 3 separate forms and then take a number. I waited about an hour until my number was called. Finally when I got to the teller, and handed the gentleman the documents passport and money. He had to type in all this information into a computer. There was also some confusion about my name Park and the hotel name, Park Hyatt. Oh well, I think doing anything like this will be a learning process for me.
