Iwanai Resort

I had a very special opportunity to join some friends on a skiing adventure to at the Iwanai Resort. Although I don’t ski or snowboard, I brought my guitar to sing some songs in the cat (short for caterpillar) on the ride up the mountain. I think it was really a special time because no one has sung at the top of this mountain before.

This really started because some friends were watching me perform at the Park Hyatt Niseko one night, and they thought it would be really cool if I wanted to sing on their skiing adventure. I’m always ready for an adventure, so I said “hell yes!”. The next morning I met them at 7:30am and then it was about an hour ride to the Iwanai Resort. There we had a few minutes to chill until it was time for everyone to pile into the cat to ride up the mountain. That ride was my time to shine. I played for about 30 minutes while the cat was crawling up the mountain. I really sang my heart out and it was really fun. We did a few runs where I was singing, and then everyone skied down, and then we picked them up at the bottom. But the very last run, we drove up to the very top, and I got to sing “Sweet Caroline” and everyone sang along before putting on their skis and riding down. I rode with the driver down to the landing area, where some of the resort staff had set up an outdoor barbecue for everyone. It was quite a spectacular day for everyone that was there.
